Bienvenido, loyal reader. Please come along as Bruce and Mary explore the vast PV Old Town hospitality scene once again. Provecho!
Mary is standing at the entrance to JD’s BBQ on Calle Basilio Badillo. My vantage is right in front of Vinos America and we all know where that is, eh?
Being only a little over a year in business JD’s has to be very creative with promotions in a highly competitive environment. Here Amanda (sorry about the focus, this new camera is not much better than the old one) is readying the Texas Holdem table for buy-ins this evening. Poker nights are Wednesday and Saturday, starting at 8pm.
Free pool is offered on Sundays and Monday is League night. Here are some of their other promotions: 100p buckets of 6 beers. And these are medias, full size beers not ponies, plus 20p house drinks all day. BTW: The regular price of beers is 20P, a bargain on Basilio Badillo.
But of course, in the end, it boils down to the food, and JD’s BBQ scores on all counts. These are without question the best ribs we have had in PV, and they come with a choice of potato and tender crisp, delicious veggies. Oh, did we mention that half and full rack rib dinners are two for one every day from 2-5?
This pulled pork sandwich is awesome and the unexpected veggies are a bonus. For Mary and me, this is a meal for two.
And I love their wings. My selection among the many offerings is always the Insanity Hot Wings. I am the current reigning champion of heat, having worked my way up to 7 drops of Da Bomb infused in the sauce.
And if you have any doubts that the owners are Canadian, they are completely dispelled when you see Poutine on the menu. Who knew that something so strange could be so tasty and so good for you!
And our new feature: Meet Tom! Tom is a blog follower who has lived here in Old Town for a number of years and speaks the language well enough to have more local than gringo friends. Thanks for following our blog, Tom.
To the denizens and tourists of Old Town, we strongly recommend you give JD’s BBQ a shot, you’ll be happy that you did. And don’t forget to tell them that Bruce and Mary sent you in. Cheers!
Thanks for visiting, gentle reader. As you know Bruce and Mary love comentarios so please feel free, on this topic or any other. Hasta proxima Domingo!
