Bienvenido, loyal reader. Please join Bruce and Mary as they take a tour of this very impressive Art Gallery in Old Town. Provecho!
We’d been meaning to stop in at Galleria Dante for some time and this day we make a point of getting here before closing time, 5:00pm. It is located on Basilio Badillo right across from Vinos America, a landmark everyone knows.
Mary and I love to experience art even though we know nothing of it, but we did recognize this as a work of Jonas Gutierrez because…
We were reminded of his El Sutil Comepiedras, The Subtle Rockjaw, sculpture on the malecon.
Now we have entered the stunningly beautiful Galleria Dante courtyard, following is a gallery of pix.
This is a view of Di Vino Dante, a brand new wine and tapas bar that occupies the upper level of this building. We’ll be going there next but first we must meet the person responsible for this incredible collection of art.
Meet Claire, a very friendly down to earth Canadian from Saskatchewan who ventured south 25 years ago. She and husband Joe originally operated an Italian restaurant but 18 years ago, they switched gears and opened Galleria Dante. Art lovers of PV are glad they did. BTW: Do check out the hotlink, it is a pretty awesome website which includes a lot of estate sale pieces which are stored away. Pricing is disclosed.
A few steps away is the entrance to Di Vino Dante Wine and Tapas Bar. Attendant Brian is happy to show us in.
Introducing Gena, Claire and Joe’s lovely daughter and the owner of this delightful establishment. And what a great concept, patrons of the arts can spend an afternoon touring the gallery and then refresh themselves in this wine and tapas bar while contemplating their purchases. Que bueno!
Thanks for visiting, gentle reader. Bruce and Mary hope you enjoyed this tour as much as they did. Please feel free to comment on this or any topic. Hasta proxima Domingo!
