Bienvenido, loyal reader. Please join Bruce and Mary as they celebrate their 39th and sixth in Mexico. Cheers!
Botanas! The chips and salsa cruda are courtesy Tony’s Restaurante (buy a bucket of four beers for 100P and get the chips/salsa gratis) and the bag of mixed nuts comes from our favorite semilla store, La Bodeguita.
Our friend and the proprietor of Licoreria Pinto, Johanna suggested we ask for her uncle Jose. Here he is, off duty, with some of his fam and extended family. Ivi (his nickname as there are too many Joses working the beach) speaks excellent English, solely due to his server job here.
Beers, chips and salsa otra vez, once again, only now we’re at Cafe Bohemio. We have just bused back to town, cleaned up and walked the short walk to our default celebration venue.
Just out of curiosity I had ordered the Pollo Yucateco. Having eaten comida Yucateca for over four years I was wondering how it would measure up. I can pretty much guarantee that this dish would make any Yucatecan quite happy.
We’d had big plans for after dinner, like barhopping along the beach and then dancing at Los Abuelitos but… doggone it, we’re old! So instead we just walked home, plopped our tired butts on our patio chairs and with a gorgeous view of the hills we fire up a victory cigar… 39 years and still counting. Cheers!
Thanks for visiting, gentle reader. Hasta proximo Domingo, amigos!
