Bienvenido, loyal reader. Please join Bruce and Mary as they get back into their regular Puerto Vallarta routine and organize their Stateside purchases.
We’re getting better at it, but there are still some things that, for us, are hard to find down here. Even though the locals are always happy to tell you hace mucho calor, they can never tell you just how hot it is. We bought this $6 temp gage at Menards in St. Cloud, MN.
By now everyone knows you should be supplementing your Omega 3s and fish oil is one of the best ways to do this (sorry vegan readers) and are especially important to someone with a history of heart disease, como yo. Fish oil caps are easy to find down here but way more expensive than the deals at the end caps of the Target Store, again, in St. Cloud. So I always load up with fish oil during our visits back. Oh, I almost forgot to mention: The new tank top I’m wearing? Four bucks at Walmart in Newington, NH. I cannot find cheap, plain tank tops in PV!
We were a little surprised that when Mary’s egg timer broke we could not find one here in PV. (Joe, were you just in the kitchen?) We looked all over, even in the kitchen dept of Liverpool, to no avail. This is another Target purchase.
And this is my new favorite toy, my Bluetooth lithium battery powered speaker. Right now we’re listening to Marco Antonio Solis, broadcasted from my laptop in the big room. There are plenty of electronics stores in PV but really, who can beat the deals on Amazon? So this was waiting for me at my mom’s when we were back.
And as long as we were on the Amazon site we figured we’d get another dance exercise tape to mix it up with our Zumba work-outs. This Hip Hop disc was the cheapest one. And I guess I had forgotten what Hip Hop is until I first viewed this. Oh well, at least it is one heckuva work-out.
And Mary, with her need for the real deal, always brings back a newspaper to devour. And English crosswords. She is especially fond of the cryptoquips that appear in the Tribune and her mom, Harriet, saves them for her. Mary has scored!.
For some reason we could not find a Hummingbird feeder in PV so we bought this one at Menards in St. Cloud, MN. This is “Mr. Red”, a Cinnamon Hummingbird, feeding. He rules this kingdom and defends his territory with great vigilance, chasing off the smaller Broad-bills.
But the one thing we no longer haul back is insulin pump supplies, now that we have made the Medtronics Mexico connection. We used to fill that entire carry-on bag. But never again, Que Bueno!
Thanks for visiting, gentle reader. Bruce and Mary want to be clear that just because they are not able to find items in PV does not mean they are not available and welcome any and all feedback. Speaking of which, right now Mary is in the hunt for some vital wheat gluten for daughter Helen’s awesome Pumpernickel bread recipe. And a happy Father’s Day to all you deserving fathers out there, you know who you are. Hasta proxima Domingo!
