Roberto’s!

Bienvenido, loyal reader. Please join Bruce and Mary as they delve once again into the Viejo Vallarta hospitality scene. Buen provecho!

Restaurante Roberto is situated on the north side of Calle Madero, Constitucion y I. Vallarta.

Roberto’s is very tastefully decorated with original art, which is for sale. The friendly couple in the corner were here the day Roberto opened last spring. They have been coming down here from Ill. for over 30 years and love the fact that Restaurante Roberto is now on the scene.

This is the view from my chair.

This is my 40P Ham, Cheese and Spinach Omelet. Talk about tasty! And filling.

This is Mary’s 28P Huevos Mexicana, Scrambled Eggs Mexican style, traditional breakfast fare down here and done very well.

This day I am feeling just a bit peckish and, tacaño, cheapskate, that I am, I ask of half orders. This is a half order of Filete de Pescado al Ajo, fish filet covered with garlic, for 50P.  This fish is cooked to perfection.

And this is Mary’s 30P Quesadilla dish. She loves it!

Soup of the day comes with all meals, this day it is a savory vegetable soup. Oh, did I mention that they have buck beers here? Yup, Pacifico or Corona for only 12P.

This is Roberto con su esposa muy bonita, Livier.

And here is the whole crew, including cocina ayudante, chef’s assistant Tomi, standing in front of the expansive kitchen.

In addition to the regular menu they have daily Comida Corrida, lunch, specials: 4 different offerings which, along with the main course, include soup of the day, frijoles and rice, and a drink – Jamaica, Tamarindo, or cebada. All for only 50P! So come on down, the value here is pretty hard to beat. And when you do, please tell Roberto that Bruce and Mary sent you in.

Thanks for visiting, gentle reader. Bruce and Mary know that they have been blogging the hospitality scene in PV quite a bit, but in their defense, there is just so much of it! But they do have a lot of days off around the holidays, so hopefully Bruce is not too lazy, copping out to a day on the beach chomping down on fish on a stick instead of taking some interesting sight seeing day trips. Vamos a ver, we shall see. Hasta proxima Domingo!

About escapetomex

My wife Mary and I escaped to Mexico on February 15, 2008 with no plan other than to buy one way tickets to Merida, Mexico and see how long we could stick. We were too young (still too young) to retire and we didn't have any money (still don't) but we'd had it with corporate life and Minnesota winters so we took the fling and with much serendipity it has worked out fine. This blog is the continuing story of our adventure. I hope you enjoy it and please feel to contact me with any questions or insights.
