Bienvendio, loyal reader. Please join Bruce and Mary as they hit the hospitality scene, once more, in beautiful Puerto Vallarta.
Mary is sitting at our two-topper at Cafe Bohemio, which is situated on Calle Rodolfo Gomez, #127, just a half block towards the beach from Calle Olas Altas. Be sure to click on the hotlink as their website is pretty awesome. It includes their menu… with pricing!
We have barely sat down when chips (hecho en casa), salsa and two for one beers appear on our table, courtesy Alex, our favorite server. And although Alex may be our favorite, the whole group is excellent. The servers speak flawless English and operate as a team, each attentive to everyone’s tables, you don’t need to catch your server’s eyes as another one will be inquiring as to your pleasure before you have had the chance to ask… superb service.
Soup of the day comes with every meal. This day it is a spicy and very tasty Tomato Soup. BTW: The bread and butter are first rate as well.
Mary was thrilled to find many vegan and veggie offerings on the menu. This is one of the best veggie burgers she has ever had.
And my meal comes, Whole Grilled Huachinango, Red Snapper, grilled to perfection, mojo ajo, covered with garlic. And yes, fans, it is as good as it looks.
Mary has gone inside to the bar area to get a pic of mixologist Jose alongside our most excellent server, Alex. A fellow patron had told us that Jose makes the best vodka martini. Sol had told him so, saying that if he didn’t like it, he didn’t have to pay for it. “I had two!” He exclaimed to us.
Here I am with Sol and Alex. Sol with partner Chris own this place. Sol is a true renaissance man. Not only does he run this very cool bistro, he is the Broadway performer Soloman Rose. And he works his restaurant patrons like he works an audience, constantly moving from table to table, entertaining and serving. It is truly a delightful experience.
We are making it a point to catch one of these performances. But we better get in gear and make reservations, these shows sell out quickly.
It is 7:00 and Cafe Bohemio is starting to fill up. Soon they will be at capacity once again, I’m glad we came early.
Feeling pretty stuffed and quite relaxed, Mary says to me, “You know, I feel like we’ve just been adopted into a pretty cool family.” I wholeheartedly agree. We ask Alex por la cuenta, the check. Our meals plus a couple of Pacificos each, come to 275P. Even for a cheap guy like me, that’s a pretty darn good value, eh?
Thanks for visiting, gentle reader. As always, comentarios are greatly appreciated and Bruce and Mary promise to respond to each, in “real time” as Bruce used to say in his previous life. Hasta proximo Domingo!
