Bienvenidos, loyal reader. Please join Bruce and Mary as they celebrate Mary’s birthday. As usual, for those of you who prefer to view these posts from the original blog-site and to view videos not supported here, please click here.
It’s hard to believe that this is Mary’s fourth birthday down here, the time has flown so, on our Mexican adventure. Now because Mary is a Halloween baby we like to stretch things out to make up for her childhood. No, no, Mary had a perfectly fine upbringing but she always felt shorted on her BD. It isn’t quite as bad as it is for a Christmas baby but you get the drift. So this year we start celebrating on Saturday with the kick off, dinner at La Poza. We had heard about this wonderful, new restaurante from friends and it did not disappoint.
The dining room. Being old-timers and having lost the ability to stay up past nine or so, we are among the first patrons of the evening. La Poza is open until three and the action doesn’t really start until we are snoozing.
The view from the far end of the patio. You can see Mary in the background.
Mary’s Pasta Arrabiata arrives. She says it is the best ever!
My fish dish, Pescado al Ajillo.
La Poza’s menu. You know what I like best about this upscale restaurante, cheap sucker that I am? These two meals plus dos cervezas each comes to only 355P, about $27USD!
On Sunday, our culinary celebrating continues with a visit to El Lucero del Alba. In addition to their usual botana offerings they serve up this, Mucbil Pollo a traditional Mayan Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead, chicken pie delight.
On Monday, Halloween we head to Cafe Club, a little eatery in Centro on Calle 55, 58 y 60, right across from Hotel Luz.
Cafe Club has several cozy dining rooms.
This is Cafe Club’s garden area.
Our mesera, server, Wendy attends to us in the patio of Cafe Club.
Our food arrives: Mary’s veggie burger and my Rollo de Arabe de Pollo, a chicken wrap. One of Cafe Club’s principal appeals for Mary is the fact they have vegan and vegetarian offerings.
My bride may be another year older but she is like a rare wine aging to a fine sweetness. I am the fortunate one to have savored her all these years, with the best yet to come. Happy birthday, my love!
Thanks for visiting, gentle reader. As you know, Bruce loves commentarios so please feel free. Hasta Luego!
