Hola loyal reader. Bruce and Mary have recently become newly minted grandparents, so be ready for a bunch of baby and new mom and dad pix. For those of you  who prefer to view these posts from the original blog-site, please click here.

We had known the due date (July 20th) for months, so we were a little  surprised when we got the VM from daughter Helen last Monday morning that Sammy had called her late the night before telling her that they were on their way to the hospital and Monday morning, 7-11-11, at about 9 Sammy called. Aria Katherine, our first grandchild, was born at 3:01am. Well you know without being told, that on this end it was Niagara Falls for Mary. We were glad to hear that even though she was a little early she was pretty perfect. One interesting thing Sammy noted about the timing of Aria’s arrival was that it was 100 years ago to the day that mom Annah’s paternal grandma, Annah Katherine, was born. Pretty cool, eh?

Proud pappy Sam and newborn Aria.

Mama Annah with baby Aria.

Boy, I wish we’d known about swaddling.

Aria’s first laugh?

Annah and Aria, freshly home from the hospital.

At home, sleeping like a baby.

Ma and Pa Kelley relaxing at home with baby Aria.

We will be visiting Sammy, Annah, and Aria in early August and Mary is counting the hours and knitting like crazy and I find that I really enjoy shopping with Mary for baby girl things at the vendors in La Plaza Grande, which, cheap sucker that I am, really surprises me. Now I know what people mean when they talk about spoiling the grand-kids. That will be fun.

Thanks for visiting gentle reader. As always Bruce appreciates any and all commentary. Hasta proxima Domingo!

About escapetomex

My wife Mary and I escaped to Mexico on February 15, 2008 with no plan other than to buy one way tickets to Merida, Mexico and see how long we could stick. We were too young (still too young) to retire and we didn't have any money (still don't) but we'd had it with corporate life and Minnesota winters so we took the fling and with much serendipity it has worked out fine. This blog is the continuing story of our adventure. I hope you enjoy it and please feel to contact me with any questions or insights.

Congratulations. I know you will spoil her – the USA trips may become a bit more often. Being a grandparent is the best.

Hola Claudia, and thanks! Yes, we are mulling several ideas for a plan that will make sure little Aria will know this set of grandparents as she grows up. We’re a little jealous of the other grandparents who are only an hour away, but that is what happens when your kid goes out of state for school and falls in love. But we Will come up with that plan!
      Cheers!
