Greetings loyal reader! Bruce and Mary have been fans of the eclectic Mayan Pub for some time now. They were in the routine of visiting quite frequently as one of the offerings there is free pool. However once the last cue stick lost its tip it hasn’t much been as much fun. Now Bruce and Mary are pretty crappy pool players but banging the cue ball around with tip-less sticks doesn’t enhance anyone’s game. Join them as they go on a cue stick repair mission. As usual, for those of you who choose to view this post from the Bruce’s original blog-site please click here.
Playing pool at the Mayan Pub some time ago, with the last good cue-stick. Notice Fidel and Ernie cheering on.
Our close friend and work compatriot Deb (younger sis of frequent visitor and best friend Kevin of Kevin and Rosie fame) informed of our Mayan pub pool travails, volunteered to ship her own personal cue-stick to us as she had fallen out of the pool playing habit. Well, I told her that we have already accumulated far too many possessions in our gypsy like house-sitting lives but not to be denied she did ship us a cue-stick repair kit. So armed with such we marched down to the Mayan pub and began our work.
Mary in the Mayan Pub’s beautiful garden toasting a hopefully successful taco, cue-stick, repair job. Taco, cue-stick, botana, cue-tip, hmm… seems to be a food theme to Mexican pool playing. Anyhow, the instructions tell us to let the goma, glue, set for an hour so we order their signature dish, Mayan Keb to fuel our hungry cue-stick repairing souls, washed down with some Chope Obscura cervezas, a beer nearly as good as Bohemia Negra.
Cheap sucker that I am, the best part of the whole experience, for me, was that the Mayan Pub comped us the beers and food for doing what we were happy to do anyhow. So, a tip of the hat to you Deb and if you ever get down here, dinner and beers at the Mayan Pub are on us!
Thanks for visiting gentle reader. As usual, Bruce appreciates any and all commentary. And remember the English goes the same way as the cut, so happy pool playing trails to you. Hasta pronto!
